Compare Box-n-Go to Self-Storage, Portable Storage, Movers, and More

Box-n-Go replaces several different service companies to offer you smooth storage and moving, all under one roof. We bring advantages at every turn. Self-storage, moving, or both — not only do we have your needs covered, we bring more to the table than most alternatives.

Self-Storage

Self-storage facilities are a familiar option for households needing more space — rent a unit, drive your stuff over, lock the door. The model has been around for decades and works fine for some scenarios. Box-n-Go solves the same underlying need (a place to put belongings that don’t fit at home) but the way the service works is different at almost every step. Here’s how the two compare.

No ramps, no rental trucks

Traditional self-storage requires renting a truck most people don’t have experience driving, making multiple trips to and from the self-storage facility, and hauling belongings up a slippery narrow ramp. Box-n-Go skips all of that. The storage container sits at ground level for easy loading — no truck rental, no ramps, no driving a large truck, no paying for gas, insurance, mileage, or rental fees. Why take that risk when you can take an easy, 21st-century path?

Load/unload only once

Traditional self-storage requires handling your belongings multiple times. Load the rental truck at home, drive to the facility, unload the truck, then haul everything through elevators and narrow hallways to your unit. Same process upon move out. Each touch is another chance for a scratch, a drop, or a strained back. Box-n-Go cuts that handling by at least 50%: load the storage container at home, unload it when storage is done. One and done. Save 50% of your time, effort, and money compared to traditional storage.

Neighborhood location

Self-storage facilities are often located in your neighborhood, so a quick visit to grab something is often a short drive. Box-n-Go operates from a centrally located warehouse — a short drive away for most, but a longer drive than visiting a neighborhood facility. We offset this however by our easy move-in process, ground-level loading, and easy, FREE ground-level access.

Load on your schedule

Trucks are rented by the day and charges accumulate quickly, so people try to get the entire move done in one day. The pressure to pack fast, drive efficiently, and return on time forces shortcuts that lead to damage and exhaustion. Box-n-Go storage containers stay next to your home as long as you reasonably need — most customers take a few days, some take longer. Pack on a Saturday, take Sunday off, finish Monday after work. The container waits.

Security

At traditional self-storage, once visitors are past the gate they’re free to roam around unsupervised. Someone can tag behind a car or penetrate past the gate. Security is only as good as the people who visit the facility. Box-n-Go is built differently: customers don’t enter our warehouse. When you need access to your belongings, we bring the storage container outside to you. Containers are stacked indoors behind monitored video and alarms, and your container has a three-point latching door secured by your own padlock — we don’t keep keys. We’ve operated this way since 2006 with zero break-ins.

24/7 access

Many self-storage facilities allow gate-code access at any hour, which is real value if you’re someone who needs to grab things at midnight. Box-n-Go is appointment-based during business hours. The trade-off: when you do arrive at our warehouse, your container is brought to ground level for drive-up access, with no corridors or upper floors to navigate. For customers who need flexible-hours access, traditional self-storage holds the advantage.

Climate-friendly

Most traditional self-storage units are built using thin metal walls and ceilings. This means trapped moisture and resulting condensation. Belongings come home with a musty smell after storage. To address this, self-storage offers climate-control units at significant premium. Box-n-Go has a different approach: climate-friendly storage. Our containers are breathable — Flex units are built of wood frame construction, larger S through XL units are metal with special ventilation provisions and an anti-condensation coating on the ceiling. All containers are stored inside a warehouse building, which is a commercial-grade structure with thick concrete walls and an insulated roof that keeps the temperature steady year-round. No musty smell, no mold, no mildew.

Pay only for space you use

Self-storage forces a decision before you’ve packed: pick a unit size and commit. Most customers overshoot to be safe, then pay for empty space for as long as they rent. Box-n-Go works the other way around. Order a few containers, fill what you actually need, and we pick up any empties at no charge. Our Flex containers offer a modular solution which makes pay-only-for-the-space-you-use a reality.

Convenience

Move into traditional self-storage is difficult and expensive: you have to rent a truck (as discussed above), load it, drive it — all in a span of one day. Hire movers, if help is needed. Box-n-Go does it differently: no trucks, no loading hassle. Need movers? We can arrange for that. You will save 50% on your move in time or costs. One company to deal with, no hassle and no time pressure.

More advantages

A few more advantages worth mentioning. Many traditional self-storage facilities raise their rates three or four months after you move in, then keep raising them. Box-n-Go offers two options instead: month-to-month with your rate guaranteed for a full year, or discounted term plans if you know how long you’ll need storage. We treat customers right. Every order includes free basic protection coverage. We are locally owned, well reviewed, and BBB accredited. Calls are answered by real local people — not a call center.

Portable Storage

The term “portable storage” was originally used to describe larger containers — most often shipping containers, used or repurposed, that arrived on the back of a tilt-bed truck. “Mobile storage” referred to smaller units more like our wood Flex containers. Over time the two terms blurred together. Today, when people search for portable storage, the picture in most heads is still a shipping container being delivered to the driveway. That’s the comparison this section makes. Box-n-Go fits the broad portable storage category, but our containers, our delivery method, and our warehouse approach are different from the shipping-container model. Here’s how.

Built for storage

Shipping containers are built for ocean freight: heavy steel construction, sealed against saltwater, painted in dark high-pigment colors that hold up to UV exposure on a ship deck. That same construction works against you when used for storage. Sealed walls trap moisture inside. Dark exterior paint absorbs heat in the sun and gives it back at night, magnifying condensation on the inside. The containers were never designed for keeping household belongings comfortable. Box-n-Go containers were designed for storage from the start. Wood Flex units use breathable construction. Metal S through XL units are built with vented walls, an anti-condensation coating on the ceiling, and lighter exterior colors that don’t bake in the sun. The result: belongings come out the way they went in.

Driveway-friendly

Shipping containers are heavy. A 20-foot steel container weighs several tons even before anything is loaded inside. They concentrate that weight on a few small contact points that can crack or damage concrete and asphalt driveways. Box-n-Go containers are much lighter. Larger containers sit on rubber feet that spread the weight across a broader area, so the driveway stays intact.

Smallest delivery footprint

Shipping containers and most portable storage equipment require significant space to deliver. Tilt-back trucks need clearance to angle the container down to the ground. Some systems — like the lift-frame equipment used by national portable storage providers — need a wide footprint of clear space around the placement point and substantial overhead clearance to operate. That rules out tight driveways, narrow side streets, low-hanging tree branches, and many residential setups in Southern California. Box-n-Go uses smaller, more flexible delivery equipment. Our containers can be placed in spots that wouldn’t fit competitors’ equipment — tight neighborhoods, narrow driveways, gated complexes with size restrictions. If you have space for a parked car, we can usually deliver.

National coverage

National portable storage providers can deliver a container to most addresses in the continental US. If you’re moving from Boston to Seattle, those national networks have warehouses on both ends and trucks moving between them. Box-n-Go operates from a central warehouse. We serve Southern California for delivery, pickup, and access. We can move containers long-distance OUT of Southern California to major metropolitan areas across the country (more on this below), but we don’t have warehouses in other states to start a move from somewhere else. For customers based in Southern California, this isn’t a limitation. For customers who need pickup outside the region, a national provider has the advantage.

Variety of sizes

Most portable storage providers offer one or two container sizes. Shipping containers come in standard 20-foot or 10-foot dimensions — that’s what the global shipping industry standardized on, and that’s what gets repurposed for storage. Box-n-Go offers five sizes, from a compact wood Flex at 8 feet by 5 feet up to a 20 by 8 foot XL. The right size depends on what you’re storing, the space available on your property, and how much access you need to your belongings during storage. Five options means the container fits the job — not the other way around.

Indoor storage option

Customers looking for portable storage have two options: on-site storage where the container stays at their property, or facility storage where the provider holds the container until the customer needs it back. Box-n-Go offers both. For on-site storage, our containers offer all the advantages already listed: built for storage, driveway-friendly, smaller delivery footprint, multiple sizes. For facility storage, Box-n-Go offers more than most: containers are stored inside our warehouse, a commercial-grade building with thick concrete walls and an insulated roof. Many portable storage providers store their containers outdoors in open lots, which means sun, rain, wind, and temperature swings reach the container the same way they would if you stored your belongings outside yourself. Indoor warehouse storage means steady temperature, no direct sun, no weather exposure. The longer the storage period, the more this matters.

Container availability

National portable storage chains operate large fleets across many warehouses, so containers are almost always available for delivery on short notice. Box-n-Go runs a smaller, regional operation. During peak season — summer moving months and end-of-academic-year transitions — our schedule fills up faster than a national chain’s would. Most of the time we have what you need when you need it, but for last-minute requests during peak periods, a larger national operator may have more flexibility.

Pay only for the space you use

Shipping containers and most portable storage providers commit you to a single container size before you’ve packed. If you order a 20-foot container and only need half of it, you still pay for 20 feet. If you underestimate and need more, you order another full container. Box-n-Go’s modular Flex containers work differently. Order multiple containers, fill what you actually need, and we pick up any empties at no charge. With five sizes from compact 8’×5′ Flex up to 20’×8′ XL, the storage you pay for matches what you’re actually storing.

Locally operated

Many portable storage providers route customer calls to centralized call centers — sometimes overseas — where the person on the phone has never seen the warehouse, doesn’t know local roads, and reads from a script. Box-n-Go is locally operated and locally answered. When you call, you talk to someone in our office who knows the warehouse, the trucks, the drivers, and Southern California neighborhoods. The same person who books your delivery may be the one who confirms the route with the driver that morning. Local operations also means accountability: there’s no franchise above us and no corporate parent, so when something needs attention, the people who can fix it are the ones answering the phone.

More advantages

A few more advantages worth mentioning. With multiple container sizes — especially the smaller Flex — Box-n-Go gives you placement flexibility a single large container can’t match. One container in the driveway, another beside the garage, another in the side yard if needed. Same total storage space, fitted to your property. Some portable storage operators describe their facility storage as indoor, but in reality the containers sit in an outdoor yard. Box-n-Go’s facility storage is genuinely indoor — inside our warehouse building. We also offer ground-level access at our facility when you need to retrieve belongings. Some operators don’t offer warehouse access at all; once your container is at their facility, you can’t get to it without paying for redelivery. Horizontal handling is another distinction. Box-n-Go containers stay horizontal throughout the entire handling process — pickup, transport, and delivery. Tilt-up handling, used by many other providers, shifts the contents inside the container every time it’s lifted or set down.

Movers

Moving comes in many shapes: local across town, long-distance across the country, with storage built in, or straight from old home to new. Box-n-Go fits these scenarios differently. For a straight local move without storage, traditional movers are usually the most direct option — we’re happy to arrange them for you as a convenience. Where Box-n-Go’s structural advantages really show up is on moves that include storage. Customers who need storage before, during, or after a move can put their belongings in a Box-n-Go container without committing to anything else. Use our movers, use your own, or decide later — the storage is yours to use as long as you need it. When you’re ready to move, we can arrange full-service movers in most cases (the cheaper option for long-distance) or ship your Flex container directly to the destination if it’s in our network and the pricing works. The advantages in the table below apply most strongly to moves that include storage; for straight no-storage moves, our role is mostly to coordinate movers for you.

Moving + Storage

A move that includes storage is the scenario where Box-n-Go’s structural advantages stack up clearly. The traditional path typically means three vendors: movers to load and shuttle, a storage facility to rent space, and either the same movers or a rental truck to retrieve and deliver. Belongings get loaded into a truck, unloaded into a storage unit, reloaded into a truck, and unloaded again at the destination — four touches minimum, often more. Some movers also offer storage, but at a premium price and typically with less security than a dedicated facility. Box-n-Go flips the script. The same container holds your belongings from the moment you load it through storage and on to the new home. Two touches: load it once, unload it once. We handle pickup, storage, and redelivery in between. One company, one container, no shuttling between vendors.

Lower cost

For local moves with storage, Box-n-Go cuts costs two ways. If you self-load the container, you avoid mover labor entirely on the storage leg — the container goes from your driveway into our warehouse with no movers involved. If you hire movers to load the container, their bill drops by a factor of two: they load once at your home and unload once at your destination, instead of loading at your home, shuttling to a storage facility, unloading into a unit, then later reversing the whole process. No shuttling. No unloading at a facility. No fighting elevators or narrow corridors to a unit. Half the mover hours, half the bill.

Less damage

Every time something gets picked up is another chance for a scratch, a drop, or a strained back. A traditional move with storage means handling each item multiple times — load into the truck at home, unload into the storage unit, later reload, unload at the destination — with hallways, doorways, and sometimes elevators in between each handoff. Box-n-Go cuts that handling significantly. Belongings get loaded once at home, stay packed in the container through storage, and get unloaded once at the new place. The container itself adds another layer of protection: once your padlock is on, the unit isn’t opened until you open it.

Single-day completion

Traditional movers can finish a typical move in a single day, especially for local moves and modest household sizes. Crew arrives in the morning, loads the truck, drives, unloads at the destination, and they’re done by evening. Box-n-Go’s model takes longer by design — the storage container sits on your driveway over multiple days while you load it at your own pace. For customers who want the move handled in one day and out of mind, traditional movers have the advantage. However, if traditional movers make more sense for your situation, we can arrange that for you. One call to Box-n-Go does it all.

Move at your own pace, sort and downsize

Movers operate on a clock. Local moves are billed by the hour; long-distance moves run on a tight schedule that has crew showing up on a specific morning and the truck on the road that afternoon. The pressure forces decisions: pack everything, sort it later. The trouble is that “later” rarely happens, and you end up paying weight or volume rates to ship items you don’t actually need at the destination. Box-n-Go runs at your pace. The storage container sits on your driveway for days or weeks. You pack a few rooms over a weekend, take a break, come back, sort through the kitchen, decide what’s actually worth keeping. The items that don’t make the cut get sold, donated, or trashed before they ever go in the container. The result is a cheaper move because you’re paying to ship less stuff, and a less cluttered destination because you’ve already done the sorting.

Container access during storage

When movers store your belongings, the items typically end up in a vault or palletized in the mover’s warehouse. Accessing your stuff during the storage period is hard, sometimes impossible — you have to schedule, sometimes pay extra, and even then you may not be able to get to specific items because of how things were packed. Box-n-Go keeps your belongings in the same container they were loaded into. When you need access, schedule an appointment. We pull your container to ground-level drive-up at our warehouse, you open it with your padlock, and you take what you need. Or we redeliver the container to your home if that’s easier. Same container, same belongings, same accessibility as if it were sitting in your garage.

Hands-off experience

Some customers don’t want to load anything themselves. They want to point at the boxes and have somebody else handle the rest. Traditional movers offer that: the crew packs (if you pay for full packing service), loads, drives, unloads, and depending on the package, even unpacks at the destination. The customer’s role is to be present and to point. Box-n-Go’s default model puts loading and unloading in the customer’s hands. If you want the full hands-off experience, we can arrange that as well — just let us know.

One-stop shop

Setting up a move with storage the traditional way means coordinating multiple vendors yourself: research and book movers, research and book a storage facility, possibly research and rent a truck for shuttling between them, then coordinate the schedules so everything lines up. Each vendor has their own pricing, contract, availability window, and quirks. Box-n-Go bundles the work. We deliver and store the container. We can arrange movers to load it, full-service movers if you want it all handled, or you can use your own — your call. We schedule the pickup, transport, storage, and redelivery on a timeline that works for you. One phone call lines up the whole sequence. The customer picks the level of involvement; we handle the coordination.

Complex moves

Real moves rarely happen in one clean step. A common scenario: declutter the current home into storage to make it show-ready, list and sell the house, move out into storage while you finalize the next purchase, close on a new home that needs renovation, move some belongings into the part of the house that’s ready, finish the remodel, then bring in the rest. Traditional movers don’t fit this. They’re set up for one move on one day — start to finish. A complex move means hiring movers and renting storage repeatedly, with each move adding crew hours and each storage transition adding handling. Box-n-Go fits the scenario naturally. Containers go into storage when you’re decluttering. Additional containers join them as the move progresses, or the same container can be picked up partially full and stored as-is. We hold them as long as you need. We deliver them in stages — partial delivery to the renovated rooms first, the rest later when the remodel finishes. Same containers, same belongings, no rebooking, no reloading.

More advantages

A few more advantages worth mentioning. For long-distance moves, Box-n-Go can ship Flex containers to destinations in our network — a niche option for customers who specifically don’t want strangers handling their belongings from start to finish. When you self-load, there’s no end-of-move tipping decision to navigate. Our delivery footprint is smaller than a moving truck, so the container fits in tight driveways and narrow streets where a 26-foot moving truck wouldn’t. And the whole process is flexible: we can deliver before your move, pick up after, hold the container at our warehouse between pickup and delivery, or redeliver in stages. The schedule, the sequencing, and the pace all bend to what works for you.

What Our Customers Think

Students

Storage for students is a different problem than storage for adults. Move-out isn’t optional — dorm housing contracts and apartment leases end on specific dates, often right after finals. Most students don’t have a car, much less a truck, so getting belongings anywhere requires solving the transportation problem first. Parents who don’t live nearby end up flying in to help, which means flights, hotels, car rental, and time off work. Lease gaps between school years force students to either pay overlapping rent or find storage. Box-n-Go was built for this. We offer two services depending on the student’s situation. Self-Load brings a Flex storage container to the student’s dorm or apartment, where students load it themselves (or with friends) over a few days, and we pick it up when ready. A La Carte Valet is full-service: we come to the student’s room, label and pick up everything, store it indoors at our warehouse, and return it for the next semester. Either way: no car needed, no parent travel required, no facility logistics for the student to navigate during finals.

We come to you

The biggest practical problem with student storage is transportation. Most students don’t have a vehicle that fits a mattress, mini-fridge, desk, and boxes — much less the truck they’d need to haul it to a self-storage facility. Box-n-Go solves this before it becomes a problem. We deliver to the dorm, the apartment, or wherever the student is. Either we bring a Flex container that sits at the residence while the student loads it, or we come inside, label everything, and carry it out ourselves. The student never has to figure out how to transport anything. No car. No truck rental. No multiple trips. No driving an unfamiliar vehicle through finals week.

Service Designed for Students

Traditional self-storage was designed for adults with cars, trucks, and time. Students have none of those — at least not during the move-out window that lands on top of finals. Box-n-Go’s student services are built around the actual constraints students face. The two service tiers (Self-Load and A La Carte Valet) match the two student housing situations: apartments with furniture, and dorm rooms with mostly boxes and small items. Pricing is structured for student timelines, with discounted pre-paid bundles that align with summer storage periods. Equipment is matched to student needs — A La Carte uses Box-n-Go U boxes, designed with thicker cardboard and full overlap flaps to hold up to inexperienced packing and stacking. Pickup, storage, and redelivery are scheduled for academic calendars. Every part of the service was built around how students actually need to use storage, not the other way around.

Friend’s garage

If a student has a friend whose family lives nearby and is willing to host belongings in their garage for the summer, that’s a real option — and it’s free. No service fees, no contract, no scheduling. The trade-offs are the obvious ones: someone else’s garage isn’t climate-controlled, isn’t secured beyond whatever the homeowner has set up, and depends entirely on the friend’s family being willing to host the stuff for two or three months. Belongings get whatever protection the garage provides, which varies. And when belongings get returned, the student still has to figure out how to get them back to campus. For students with the right connection, the friend’s garage is the cheapest option available. The alternative to friend’s garage is sharing a Flex container with a friend or two — by far the cheapest summer storage option that still gets the safety of indoor warehouse storage.

Lower total cost

The real cost of student storage isn’t just the storage rate. It’s everything that piles on top: parents flying in to help, hotel and car rental for the trip, truck rental if a self-storage unit is involved, late-fee creep if the unit gets renewed past the summer window, the extra month of overlapping rent if the lease gap doesn’t line up cleanly. Box-n-Go’s service is structured to eliminate most of these. No truck rental. No need for parents to fly in for the move-out. Pre-paid bundles aligned with the typical summer storage window. A La Carte Valet pricing scales with what the student actually has, not with the size of a unit they may not fill. The end-to-end cost typically comes in well below what families spend cobbling together a do-it-yourself storage solution.

Hassle-free storage

A traditional storage solution requires the student (or parent) to research facilities, book a unit, rent a truck, schedule the move, do the move themselves, and reverse the whole sequence in the fall. Each step is a coordination problem during a stretch of the year that’s already crowded with finals, packing, travel home, and the start of the next semester. Not to mention parents flying in to help. Box-n-Go takes the coordination off their plate. Schedule the pickup, we do the rest — labeling, transporting, storing, redelivering. The student handles their belongings if they want to (Self-Load), or we handle everything (A La Carte Valet). Either way, the storage doesn’t become a project the student has to manage on top of everything else.

Share a unit with a friend

Two or three students sharing a single storage unit can split the cost down to a fraction of what each would pay individually. This is a very popular option using a Box-n-Go Flex unit. The container gets delivered to or near campus, where loading is simple and easy — the unit sits at ground level, students load directly into it without hauling boxes through facility hallways. Once loaded, we pick it up and store it indoors. When the next semester starts, we deliver it back. The trade-offs are the same as any shared arrangement: someone coordinates loading and scheduling, and if one student needs early access the shared logistics can get tricky. For students with a friend or two on the same timeline, sharing a Flex container is the lowest-cost way to get end-to-end student storage.

Pickup and delivery

Most storage options leave the moving in and out to the customer. Box-n-Go handles both ends. We come to the student’s residence with a Flex container or our crew, pick up the belongings, transport them to our warehouse, store them, and bring everything back to the student’s next address when the semester starts. Often the return address is different from where we picked up — a new dorm, a new apartment, a different campus. We handle the address change without the customer having to coordinate anything. The student doesn’t have to figure out transportation in May or August, doesn’t have to be on campus on the day of pickup or delivery, and doesn’t have to solve the move-in problem from scratch. With most alternatives, the change of address between move-out and move-in becomes its own logistics headache. With Box-n-Go, it’s just part of the service.

Parent peace of mind

Most parents of college students live somewhere other than the student’s school. The end-of-semester move-out, normally a routine logistics problem, turns into a flight, a hotel, a rental car, time off work, and a couple of stressful days helping clear a dorm room while the student is taking finals. Box-n-Go takes the move out of the parent’s calendar. The student schedules the pickup. We arrive at the dorm or apartment, handle the loading or pickup, and store everything indoors at our warehouse until the next semester. Parents don’t have to fly in. They don’t have to coordinate from afar. They don’t have to wonder if their kid’s stuff is sitting outside in someone’s garage or in a self-storage facility nobody has visited. Belongings are inside our building, secured with the student’s own padlock, and accounted for. The parent’s role is to write the check and stop worrying about it.

Pay only for what you use

Self-storage rents space — you pick a unit size and pay for the whole unit whether you fill it or not. Most students overshoot to be safe, then pay for empty space all summer. Box-n-Go works the other way around. With Self-Load, students can order a Flex container that fits their actual load — or share one with a friend if they don’t have enough to fill one. With A La Carte Valet, students pay by the box: the Box-n-Go U boxes carry one rate, small items and luggage carry another, and bulky items like bicycles or furniture have their own rate. Students with very little to store pay very little. Students with more pay accordingly. Either way, the bill matches what’s actually being stored, not the size of a unit they had to commit to in advance.

More advantages

A few more things worth knowing. Box-n-Go is locally managed — calls are answered by real local people who know the campuses and the move-out logistics. We’ve been servicing all the local schools for twenty years; we know what a UCLA dorm move-out looks like, what USC’s apartment turnover does to demand, and how spring move-out at the Claremont colleges runs up against finals. We operate year-round, so students with study-abroad semesters, internships, or off-cycle housing changes can use the service whenever needed — not just during the summer window. The A La Carte Valet service uses our Box-n-Go U boxes, designed specifically for student use — thicker cardboard and full overlap flaps to hold up to inexperienced packing and stacking. We handle moves as well as storage, so students relocating to a new city for a summer internship or after graduation can use the same containers for the move. And we’re BBB accredited and well reviewed by parents and students who’ve used the service.

Why Box-n-Go?

Business

Box-n-Go also serves business customers — offices, retail, restaurants, schools, hospitality, military, government, property management, and the restoration industry. Business storage looks different from residential: the cost of doing it the wrong way isn’t just inconvenience, it’s exposure. A renovation that pulls inventory off the floor, an office relocation, a restaurant remodel, a restoration job after water or fire damage — each of these involves moving a meaningful volume of stuff somewhere it can sit until the work is done. The traditional approach means renting a truck, putting employees behind the wheel, hauling items up ramps, and navigating a self-storage facility on the company’s clock. Every step adds risk: vehicle accidents, employee injuries, inventory damage, missed deadlines. Box-n-Go takes the risk off the business. We deliver the container to the location, store it indoors at our warehouse, and bring it back when needed. Employees handle the loading at their own pace, on their own property, at ground level — or our crew handles the loading entirely. No rental trucks, no facility logistics, no employees doing work that isn’t theirs.

Reduced business liability

Every time a business has its own employees move inventory or equipment to storage, the company carries the risk for everything that happens along the way. Vehicle accidents in a rental truck the employee isn’t trained to drive. Back injuries from hauling items up steel ramps. Strained muscles, dropped boxes, damaged inventory, missed shifts. The insurance and HR consequences pile up. Box-n-Go eliminates these exposures. The container comes to the business location. Employees load at ground level on their own property — or our crew handles the loading entirely. No rental truck, no driving liability. No facility ramp work. No employees getting hurt doing work that wasn’t in their job description. The business carries the same risk profile as any normal workday, regardless of how much storage moves in or out.

On-site storage option

Self-storage facilities have one location: theirs. If the business needs storage during a remodel, a seasonal inventory swing, or while restoration work happens at the property, those facilities can’t help unless the business hauls everything to them. Box-n-Go offers an on-site option. We deliver a container to the business location — the parking lot, a side alley, the loading dock area — and leave it there as long as needed. Inventory stays at the property, accessible whenever the business needs it. No truck runs. No off-site retrievals. No employees driving back and forth between the business and a storage facility. When the project’s done, we pick up the container and take it away. The business never had to leave the property to deal with storage.

Great sizing options

Most portable storage providers offer one or two container sizes. Self-storage facilities offer a broader range of unit sizes, but every unit means a separate trip and separate handling. Box-n-Go offers five container sizes, from a compact modular 8’×5′ Flex up to a 20’×8′ XL — and businesses can order as many containers as they need, mix sizes, and pay only for what they fill. A retail store cycling out seasonal inventory can use small Flex units rotated through the year. A construction site can stage materials in mid-size containers. An office relocation can use a few larger units to move desks, chairs, and equipment in one pass. The mix-and-match approach means the storage matches the actual volume and category of what’s being stored, not the closest size on offer.

24/7 access at owned facility

A business that owns or leases its own warehouse or storage space has unlimited access — open the door any time of day or night, retrieve what’s needed, leave again. Box-n-Go’s facility storage is appointment-based during business hours. For a business that requires constant, unscheduled access to stored items, having an owned or leased facility wins on that one dimension. The trade-off is that owning or leasing dedicated space is a much bigger commitment: rent, utilities, insurance, security, and the labor to staff it. Most businesses needing storage for a project, a remodel, or a seasonal swing don’t actually need 24/7 access — but for businesses that do, on-site or owned facility access is the better fit.

Flexible delivery equipment

Commercial properties have constraints residential properties usually don’t: tight loading docks, narrow alleys, low-clearance parking structures, busy storefronts where blocking access during the day isn’t an option. Standard portable storage equipment — tilt-back trucks, lift-frame systems — needs significant space and clearance to operate. That rules out a lot of commercial spaces. Box-n-Go uses smaller, more flexible delivery equipment. We can place containers in tight commercial spots that wouldn’t fit competitors’ equipment: narrow side streets, partial alley access, low-overhead loading areas, parking spots between buildings. Where many providers can’t deliver at all, we usually can.

Contractor-ready

Contractors face a specific problem: a customer’s space has to be cleared so work can happen. Restoration contractors deal with water, fire, smoke, or mold damage. General contractors run renovations and remodels. Commercial GCs do tenant improvements where the space has to come empty. In every case, the contents need to go somewhere safe and indoors while work happens, and then everything has to come back. Box-n-Go fits this workflow seamlessly. We deliver containers to the job site. The contractor’s crew packs the contents directly into the containers — no double-handling, no separate pack-out company, no off-site sorting. We pick up the loaded containers and store them indoors at our warehouse for the duration of the project. When the work is complete, we deliver the containers back to the property and the crew unpacks. One company handles the storage logistics from pack-out to put-back, with no facility ramps, no rental trucks, and no transferring contents between vehicles.

Optional loading crew

Some businesses want their own employees to handle the loading. Others would rather not — either because the labor isn’t a good use of employee time, because the job is heavier than what employees should be lifting, or because the business doesn’t want to put its own staff on a project that isn’t their normal work. Box-n-Go offers an optional loading crew through our partner movers. The business books the container the same way as a self-load, then adds a loading crew to the order. We coordinate the schedule so the crew arrives when the container is in place, loads everything in, and leaves. The business gets the convenience of self-load on-site storage without putting employees on the project at all.

Easy FREE ground-level access

When a business needs to access stored items, the experience matters. Self-storage facilities mean elevators, narrow corridors, dollies, and time spent navigating someone else’s building. Many also charge for after-hours access or oversized retrievals. Box-n-Go’s facility access is different: ground-level, drive-up, and free. Schedule an appointment, drive up to our warehouse, we pull your container to ground level, you open it with your padlock, and you take what you need. No corridors, no elevators, no fees. For businesses that need to retrieve specific items during a long-term storage project — files, seasonal inventory, equipment, archived records — the access experience is faster and simpler than dealing with a self-storage facility.

Climate-friendly storage

Some business inventory can sit anywhere. Other inventory cannot. Film and entertainment companies store sets, props, costumes, and equipment that degrade in heat and humidity. Document and records storage requires steady temperature to prevent paper damage. Electronics, art, wood furniture, leather goods, and many product categories suffer in outdoor or unconditioned storage. Box-n-Go’s containers live inside our warehouse — a commercial-grade building with thick concrete walls and an insulated roof that keeps the temperature steady year-round. The containers themselves are built for moisture handling: wood Flex units use breathable construction, metal S through XL units have vented walls and an anti-condensation coating. For businesses storing temperature-sensitive inventory, this matters. No outdoor exposure, no condensation, no musty smell when the container comes back out.

More advantages

A few more things worth knowing. Box-n-Go is locally managed — calls are answered by people who know Southern California, the commercial corridors, and the buildings, not a call center. We’ve been operating since 2006, so we’ve seen a wide range of business storage scenarios and built workflows for most of them. Contractors get a contractor discount on recurring storage, recognizing that pack-out / put-back work is core to several trades. Long-term storage discounts are available for businesses storing for extended periods — six months, a year, or longer — at rates that beat month-to-month pricing. For commercial accounts, we’ll work out the specifics directly.
