Storage Container Inventory and Loading Form
A written inventory is the one record that tells you what went into your storage container, where it sits, and what it is worth. It takes a few minutes to fill in and it saves you from guessing later, whether you are looking for one box or checking that everything came back. Print the form for your container size, sketch your layout on the grid, and list your items as you load.
Each form is two pages: a floor layout grid to plan where things go, and an inventory list to record every item and its declared value. Keep the finished form with your paperwork and take a photo of it before pickup.
Why keep an inventory of what you store
An inventory turns a stack of boxes into a record you can act on. When everything is written down, you can find a single item without opening every box, confirm nothing is missing when your container comes back, and hand a clear list to anyone helping you move.
How to use the form
Work through the form in four steps.
1. Print the form for your container size. Pick your size below and print it. Each grid is drawn to that container's floor, so the squares match the space you actually have.
2. Sketch your layout on the grid (page one). Before you load, draw where the large items will go. Keep the heaviest items on the bottom and toward the center, and plan an aisle so you can reach the back. The arrow marks the door side, and one square is about one foot.
3. List each item on the inventory (page two). Write down every item or box, the room it came from, and its declared value. Number the container and check its size at the top so a multi-container move stays organized.
4. Keep a copy. Photograph the finished form before pickup and keep the paper copy with your records. A quick photo of the loaded container helps too.
For step-by-step loading technique, including how to secure the load and prepare for pickup, see the loading guide.
Print your container inventory form
Choose your container size and print the two-page form. If you are not sure which size you have, check your order confirmation or the size on the container itself.
- Flex container inventory form (PDF) - 8 ft long, 5 ft wide, 7 ft tall
- Small (S) container inventory form (PDF) - 8 ft long, 8 ft wide, 8 ft tall
- Medium (M) container inventory form (PDF) - 12 ft long, 8 ft wide, 8 ft tall
- Large (L) container inventory form (PDF) - 16 ft long, 8 ft wide, 8 ft tall
- Extra large (XL) container inventory form (PDF) - 20 ft long, 8 ft wide, 8 ft tall
Each form prints on two pages. Do not pack any prohibited goods, and stay within your container's weight limit; both are listed on the containers and policies pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I make an inventory of what I store?
An inventory lets you find a single item without opening every box, confirm nothing is missing when your container returns, and document the declared value of what you stored. It takes a few minutes and it saves hours later.
Which inventory form should I print?
Print the form that matches your container size: Flex, Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large. Each grid is drawn to that container's floor, so plan your layout on the one that fits the space you have. If you have more than one container, print one form for each and number them.
How do I use the floor layout grid?
The grid represents your container's floor, with one square roughly one foot. Sketch where the large items will go before you load, keeping the heaviest items on the bottom and toward the center, and leave an aisle so you can reach the back. The arrow marks the door side.
