Services: How Box-n-Go Can Help You With Storage and Moving
You probably landed here after searching for help with storage, moving, or both. Whatever word you used to search — self storage, pod storage, mobile storage, portable storage, temporary storage, furniture storage, moving company, long distance moving, student storage, summer storage — there’s a good chance you’re in the right place.
This page is built as a kind of glossary. If you’ve been searching for storage or moving help, you’ve probably noticed there are a lot of different words for what’s often the same thing. Pod, vault, locker, container, unit — these terms get used differently by different companies and customers, and it can be confusing to figure out whether you’re comparing the same service or not. Below, we’ve grouped the most common terms into the three areas of work we cover, with a short note on each so you can quickly tell which one fits your situation. The detailed explanation of each service lives on its own page.
Box-n-Go is a storage and moving company based in Southern California. We’ve been doing this work since 2006. We’re a storage and moving company, but over the years we’ve grown into more than that. College students moving out of dorms in May have different needs than restoration contractors working through a fire job, who have different needs than a family between houses for ninety days. We’ve learned to handle each of those well, and the way we work with each of them looks a little different.

Below you’ll find three main areas of work — storing things, moving things, and help for students — with the most common search terms under each. If you see your term, click into that section’s page for the longer explanation of how we’d help you. If you don’t see your term exactly, give us a call. We’ve probably done something close.

Why Customers End Up Saving Time and Money
Before you dig into the lists below, here’s the short version of why our approach tends to work better than the alternatives — because if you’ve never used a service like ours before, the difference matters more than you might expect.
Traditional self-storage doubles your work. You rent a truck, drive home, load the truck, drive to the facility, unload into a unit — then do all of it in reverse when you need your things back. Plus the truck rental. Plus a unit you may not even fill. With us, the storage comes to you. You load. We pick up, store, and redeliver when you’re ready. No truck rental. No trips to a facility. You handle your things on your schedule, in your driveway, and that’s it.
Traditional movers handle your things multiple times in a single move. A crew shows up, loads your things into their truck, drives, sometimes shifts your things between trucks at a transfer point, then unloads at the new place. Every handling is a chance for something to get dropped, scuffed, or lost. Our approach is different. Your things go into one container, stay in that container through the move, and come out at the destination. Less handling means less breakage and a lower bill.
Storage and moving are usually the same job paid for separately. If you’re moving and your new place isn’t ready, most people end up renting a storage unit, then hiring movers to take things to the unit, then hiring movers again to take things out. We do all of it with the same container and the same team. Load, store as long as you need, redeliver when you’re ready. One service, one bill.
Five container sizes for whatever you actually need to store or move. We offer five sizes so you’re not paying for space you don’t use or struggling to fit your things into something too small. The Flex (8′ × 5′) is sized for small loads — a dorm room’s worth of belongings, a few rooms of a small apartment, or sharing between roommates. The Small (8′ × 8′) and Medium (12′ × 8′) fit one- to two-bedroom apartments or storage during a renovation. The Large (16′ × 8′) handles most three-bedroom homes. The XL (20′ × 8′) is sized for full four-bedroom houses and larger commercial loads. Most customers end up using a combination of sizes for bigger jobs — three Larges instead of two XLs, for example — because it gives you more flexibility on placement, access, and delivery scheduling.

Box-n-Go Portable Storage Unit Sizes
We handle student moves differently than office moves differently than restoration projects. Student storage works around the academic calendar, on-campus pickup logistics, and parents coordinating from out of state. Restoration storage works around the schedule of damage repair and coordination with restoration contractors. Business storage runs on commercial schedules with delivery and access that fits the way a business actually operates. The differences matter, and over twenty years of doing this work we’ve learned where each one needs its own approach.
You don’t pay extra for things other places upcharge for. Ground-level access at our warehouse? No extra fee — most self-storage facilities charge a premium for that. Free basic protection coverage on your stored things? Included by default — most storage and moving companies don’t include that. Climate-friendly indoor warehouse? No upcharge.

Storing Things
If you need to put your things somewhere safe — for a few weeks, a few months, or a few years — start here. Your things go into a sturdy weatherproof container with your own lock on it. The container can stay at your property if it’s easier, or it can come back to our warehouse if you’d rather have it out of the way. Either way, you decide when you want your things back, and we bring them to you.

The list below is the glossary for storage terms. Many of these describe the same underlying service under different names — pod storage, mobile storage, and portable storage are mostly the same thing, for example — because customers search for them under different words. If your search term is on this list, you’re in the right place. The storage page explains each one in depth.

Moving Things
If you’re moving — across town or across the country — we can help with that too. Local moves are on our own trucks. Long-distance moves go out with carriers we’ve worked with long enough to vouch for.
Why would you choose us over a traditional moving company? A few reasons. Less handling means less breakage. We can park a container at your old place for a few days while you load on your schedule, instead of forcing you into a one-day move. If your new place isn’t ready, your things can stay at our warehouse and arrive when you are. And the bill is usually lower — less crew time, and you have the option of loading yourself if you want to save more.

A few specific kinds of moves we handle a little differently. Office moves run on commercial schedules — weekends, after-hours, and around your business operations. Senior moves are geared toward downsizing and relocations that need extra care and patience. And moves that include a storage stop in between are common enough that we handle them as their own thing — same container, same team, no second crew at the storage point.
The list below is the glossary for moving terms. The moving page explains each one in depth.

Help for Students
This is the area we get the most questions about, and it’s the one we’ve put the most work into making easy for students and parents.
If college move-out is on the calendar — yours or your kid’s — start here. The academic calendar is its own thing. Dorms close on a specific Sunday in May. Apartment leases end on the 31st. Most students don’t have a car, and a lot of parents are coordinating from out of state, trying to handle move-out by phone from across the country. We’ve built our student services around all of that — including the parts that have nothing to do with storage, like figuring out which schools allow on-campus pickup and which require curbside, or how to coordinate a pickup when the student is in finals and unreachable for three days.

You have two options depending on what you (or your student) actually has to move. If it’s mostly boxes, bedding, and a mini-fridge from a dorm room, our valet service picks items up piece by piece and you don’t need a container at all. If it’s furniture from an apartment, a container comes to the address, you load it, we store it over summer, and we bring it back in the fall. Both options include pickup, storage at our warehouse, and redelivery at the start of the next semester.
The list below is the glossary for student storage terms. They all route to the same two underlying services — the right one for you depends on what’s actually getting stored. The student services page explains each one in depth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are your services available?
Our local services — same-day delivery, container pickup, on-site storage, local moves — cover Southern California from our warehouse. That includes Los Angeles County, Orange County, and parts of Ventura, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. If you’re outside that footprint but still in Southern California, give us a call and we’ll tell you whether we can serve you. For long-distance and nationwide moves, we work coast to coast through partner carriers — meaning we can pick up in our Southern California service area and deliver anywhere in the country, or coordinate origin-to-destination moves outside California through the carrier network.
How long can I store my things with you?
Whatever fits your situation. Some customers store for two weeks while a renovation finishes. Some store for years. There’s no minimum that locks you into paying for time you don’t need, and there’s no maximum that forces you to move out by a certain date. You pay monthly while your things are with us, and when you’re ready for them back you give us a call and we redeliver. The pricing is structured to make sense for both short-term and long-term — we don’t penalize you for storing longer, and we don’t require a long commitment to get a fair monthly rate.
What if I’m not sure which service fits my situation?
Call us. Most first-time customers aren’t sure — there are a lot of options and a lot of overlapping terminology, and the right answer depends on details like how much you’re storing, how long, whether the container can stay at your property, whether you want help loading, and what your timeline looks like. A five-minute conversation usually sorts it out faster than any flowchart on a website would. The person who answers the phone has done this work for years and isn’t going to pressure you into a service you don’t need.
Can I get to my things while they’re in storage?
Yes. If your container is stored at our warehouse, you book a drive-up appointment whenever you need access — and there’s no extra fee for that. We bring your container out, you get what you need, and we put it back. If your container is at your own property, you have access to your things any time you want, no appointment required, no involvement from us. The freedom to access your things is part of how we built the service.
How does pricing work?
The honest answer is that pricing depends on a few specific things about your situation: how big a container you need, how long you’re storing, whether the container stays at your property or comes back to our warehouse, whether you want our crew to do the loading or you’ll handle it yourself, and where you’re located within our service area. The fastest way to get a real number is to call us or use the online quote tool — we can quote you in a few minutes based on actual details. We don’t have hidden fees, we don’t charge extra for drive-up access at the warehouse, and the basic protection coverage on your stored things is included.
