Student Storage Discount - Affordable Storage Units for Students
Storage is priced for households, not for rooms, and a student pays for the gap. That is the arithmetic a student storage discount has to beat, and the shape of the pricing beats it before any percentage does. Box-n-Go charges by the box, with the collection and the delivery already in the figure, which is what makes cheap student storage cheap once the truck and the two trips are counted.

Why Student Storage Discount Options Matter
College already costs enough. Between tuition, housing, the meal plan, the books and the ordinary week, most families are stretched before storage comes up at all. When the room has to be empty and something has to hold it, the last thing anybody needs is a bill nobody budgeted for.
A rented unit charges for floor space rather than for belongings. A student with eight boxes and a mini-fridge takes the smallest unit on offer and pays for the two thirds of it that stays empty all summer. On top of the rate come the administrative fee at signup, the insurance the facility requires and the deposit, none of which appear in the advertised price.
The bigger number is usually the trip rather than the storage. A seat bought for a fixed week in May, a hotel near a campus at graduation rates, a truck by the day, and the days off work to use them: a move-out that looked simple in March turns into the most expensive weekend of the year. All of it for a load that fits in one container and never needed to leave the city.
A self storage student discount is worth having, but the shape of the pricing matters more than the percentage off it. A student stores for a defined stretch, usually fourteen weeks, and stores a room rather than a household. Pricing that follows the count of what is actually stored fits that. Pricing by the square foot does not, whatever discount is applied to it.

How Box-n-Go Prices Student Storage
Box-n-Go charges by the box rather than by the square foot. Eight boxes cost less than twenty. A mini-fridge carries its own rate. Nobody pays for capacity they did not fill, which is where most of the saving comes from before any discount is applied.
It also removes the guesswork. Nobody has to estimate square footage in April or work out whether a room fits one size or the next one up. There is no rounding up, which is the quiet cost of a rented unit: belongings that do not quite fit the smaller size get charged at the larger one for the whole summer.
The collection and the delivery are in the booking rather than beside it. A rented unit leaves the truck, the fuel and the two round trips off its own price list, and those are the lines that decide the total. Student discount storage units are only cheap if the driving is counted, and here it is ours.
Schools We Serve Across Southern California
The same pricing runs at every campus below, across Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire. It is worth saying what these places are before the last week of the year. USC sits a walk from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. UCLA is up the hill from the Getty Center, and Caltech is a short walk from the Huntington Library. The Claremont Colleges share a walkable campus with the California Botanic Garden at one end, and UC Irvine is twenty minutes from Crystal Cove State Park.
In the Los Angeles area, we serve students at USC, UCLA, LMU, Occidental College, Otis College, Caltech, and Pepperdine University. The Claremont Colleges, including Pomona College, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Scripps College, and Pitzer College, are all on it.
We also serve CSUN, Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal Poly Pomona. In Orange County, students at UC Irvine, Chapman University, and Concordia University Irvine benefit from our student-focused pricing. We also serve students at Azusa Pacific University, Biola University, University of La Verne, and Woodbury University.
Comparing Storage Costs: Traditional vs Cheap Student Storage
The advertised monthly rate is the smallest number in the sum and the only one most people compare. Finding cheap student storage honestly means adding everything the rate leaves out, and there is more of it than anyone expects.
Start with what a unit adds to its own rate. The fees are set out further down this page; the point here is that none of them appear in the price that brought you to the door, and together they change the total for a summer.
Then the driving, which is the part a price list never carries. A van or a small truck is quoted by the day and billed by the mile, and it is wanted twice, once in May and once in August. A driver under twenty-five usually pays more for it or leaves a larger deposit. Without a vehicle at all, it becomes a series of paid rides to a building across town.
Our storage unit student discount sits on top of pricing that already has the collection and the delivery inside it. A room of boxes usually comes to less than a rented unit does once the truck, the fuel and the fees are counted, and the Moving Calculator: Compare Move Budgets puts a number on both.
Student Storage Discount Options: Two Service Types
There are two services and the cheaper one depends on the room rather than on any promotion.
A hall room of boxes, bedding and a fridge is cheapest by the box, which is A La Carte Valet. An unfurnished apartment, or three people splitting one bill, is cheapest by the container, which is Self-Load Flex. Box-n-Go Storage Services sets out what each one covers.
Self-Load Flex Container: Split Costs with Roommates
The Flex container is eight feet by five by seven and it comes to the building, or to the lot the college assigns. You load it at ground level over several days, close it with your own lock, and we take it away whole and keep it indoors.
Sharing is where this gets cheap. Three people leaving the same apartment put everything in one container and divide the bill, which comes to less each than any of them would pay alone and less than three separate bookings. Every name goes on the account, so each person labels and reclaims their own things.
Because it rests on the ground, nothing goes up a ramp and nothing is lifted overhead. And because it stands at the address for days rather than an hour, the loading happens in the gaps between exams instead of against the clock on a rented truck.
In the fall it comes back to the address you name then. Campus rules on where a container may stand differ from school to school and change from year to year, so check the current rule with the housing office before the date is fixed and we will work to it.

A La Carte Valet Storage: By-the-Box Student Pricing
A La Carte Valet counts boxes and items. Eight boxes cost eight boxes, and the empty half of a unit never appears on the bill because there is no unit.
It starts in the mail. A kit reaches you before pickup day with five Box-n-Go U Boxes, tape and a marker in it. Five is a starting point rather than a limit, so ask for more, change what the kit holds before it ships, or pack into boxes you already own and skip the kit entirely.
The U Box is built for this rather than bought off a hardware store shelf. The cardboard is heavier and the flaps overlap the whole way across, because a student box spends the summer at the bottom of a stack rather than making one trip across a room.
On the day the crew comes to the room. Every box and every loose item is labeled, registered against the account, carried down and driven indoors. In the fall it comes back to whatever address you name. The quote is the price, and nothing is added at the counter because there is no counter.

Nothing about it is limited to boxes. A mini-fridge, a microwave, a desk chair, a bookcase or a bicycle all go the same way, each with its own rate, so the total is known before anything is booked.
Hidden Costs Traditional Storage Doesn't Advertise
A rented unit advertises a rate that looks competitive and then adds to it after the signature. That is the gap a storage student discount has to close before it means anything, and it is worth knowing what sits in it.
An administrative fee at move-in, usually non-refundable. Tenant insurance, required rather than offered. A deposit that can equal a month. A padlock bought at the counter because the facility does not supply one. And a late fee, which finds students more often than it finds anyone else, because the bill arrives during exams.
Then the terms. An access fee for getting in outside office hours. A surcharge for climate control, which is the version anything electronic needs. A minimum term longer than a summer. And an automatic renewal that keeps billing until somebody cancels in writing, which is the charge students find in October. Box-n-Go Service Policies sets out ours in plain terms.

Our affordable student storage pricing carries the collection, the indoor storage and the delivery in one figure. The quote is the amount. How Box-n-Go Works: Storage, Moving, and Student Services walks through a booking from the first call to the fall delivery.

What Students Say About Box-n-Go Pricing
What students and parents wrote afterwards, in their own words:
★★★★★
"It's pretty good value. I have used Box-n-Go before, and it has worked well. It's pretty good value, and they often have discounts or special offers. They used to give free delivery to UCLA students (=$100), but now they had a $25 Halloween discount, and $25 credit for writing this review. They are often pretty quick to pick up the phone when one calls, which I appreciate. All in all, a good service for what it does."
Joakim E., Los Angeles, CA - UCLA
★★★★★
"I got Box-n-Go for when I travel abroad this summer. I wanted something I could have outside of my apartment and pack up and be taken away without me having to have a car. This is perfect! Also if you are a UCLA student there is an awesome discount that gets rid of your delivery fee! Definitely worth it! I then had a question and the man Frank I talked to was great! Very helpful, definitely recommend for students who need to store things while left without housing!"
Jill P., Manhattan, NY - UCLA Student
★★★★★
"Box-n-Go makes things super easy when moving! Say goodbye to all the stress and chaos of trying to figure out movers and storage. They are a one stop shop. They dropped of a box when I was moving out my apartment in Westwood (they had an awesome promotional student discount too) they took it away to their secured location. Anytime I needed to visit my unit it was no problem! I've been a customer for a year and a half and I am pleased with how helpful and reliable they are! And Frank is super helpful and really cares about helping you handle your move with ease. If you don't want to have to deal with the hassle of hiring movers and a storage unit, Box-n-Go is a great solution!"
Stephanie L., Los Angeles, CA
★★★★★
"Box-n-Go made the process of moving, boxing and storing extremely easy. I tried Box-n-Go based on another USC parent since the previous storage place we used was questionable. Box-n-Go made the process of moving, boxing and storing extremely easy. Considering that i was late in making the reservation during probably the busiest time of the year (college move out weekend) box n go accommodated our request. They were professional, informative and timely. Thank you for making the move so smooth!"

Tips for Maximizing Student Storage Discount Value
Almost nothing goes wrong in the warehouse. It goes wrong in the room, late, at the end of a week of exams. Four things account for most of the damage: food, liquids, mini-fridges and open toiletries.
- Keep every box under fifty pounds. Overloaded boxes are unsafe to lift and collapse when stacked.
- Nothing that pours, nothing that spoils. Shampoo, detergent, half-finished drinks and anything sealed in the pantry all find a way out in a warm truck. Tape the lids, bag them, or leave them behind.
- Defrost the mini-fridge a day before pickup. Then clean and dry it, and clean the microwave. A fridge packed damp comes back smelling of what was in it.
- Label all sides of every box. Student name, a phone number, and where it is going. Boxes are stacked, and the top is the one face nobody can read.
- Trash bags are dust covers, not luggage. Never let one carry weight. Roll mattress toppers rather than folding them, and bag them.
- Pad anything breakable and mark it fragile. Wrap each piece individually. Nothing loose rattling in drawers.
- Photograph the inside of each box before taping it. It takes a second and it is the only inventory anybody actually keeps.
- Keep passport, medication, laptop and chargers with you. Nothing needed in the next few days goes into storage.

Share a container where you can. Three people splitting one is the cheapest arrangement on this page, and it takes one phone call to set up.
Parents, that list is also a phone call. Read it down once with your student and you will know whether the fridge was really defrosted and the open bottles really went in the trash.

Frequently Asked Questions About Storage Unit Student Discount
Are student discounts available for storage?
Yes. Ask when you book, because student rates and seasonal offers change through the year. The larger saving is usually in the pricing shape rather than the discount: paying by the box for a room, with the collection and the delivery already in the figure.
Is student storage cheaper than shipping items home?
Usually, once both directions are counted. Freighting a mini-fridge and a dozen boxes across the country costs more than keeping them here for the summer, and it costs the same again in August.

How does by-the-box pricing work?
You are charged for the boxes and items that exist rather than for a unit size. Eight boxes cost less than twenty. There is no empty space on the bill because there is no unit.
Can roommates share storage to save money?
Yes, and it is the cheapest arrangement here. Three people leaving the same apartment put everything in one container and divide the bill. Every name goes on the account, so each person labels their own things.
How far in advance should I book student storage?
Seven to eight weeks before finals. Every campus in the region empties inside the same three weeks, so the slots that fit around an exam go first, and booking early costs nothing extra.
Do I need a truck to use student storage?
No. The crew comes to the room, carries everything down and drives it away, then brings it back in the fall. Nothing is rented and nothing is borrowed.
